Financial Information Privacy Notice
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) Disclosure

1. Purpose and Scope
Ballast Ventures LLC ("Ballast Ventures," "Ballast," "we," "us," or "our") is a Michigan limited liability company engaged in independently negotiated commercial co-investment arrangements and related business activities.
In the course of these activities, Ballast Ventures may collect, receive, maintain, and process nonpublic personal, business, and financial information.
This Financial Information Privacy Notice describes our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of financial information, including information obtained through Stripe Financial Connections and other authorized financial services.
This notice supplements our general Privacy Policy and any applicable confidentiality agreements.
We intend to handle information in accordance with applicable federal and state privacy requirements, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act where applicable.
Nothing in this notice constitutes an acknowledgment that any particular transaction, relationship, or service is subject to GLBA.

Depending on the nature of our business relationship, we may collect:

Information necessary to establish or administer contractual relationships.

Processing authorized ACH payments.
Calculating and collecting amounts owed under executed agreements.
Administering co-investment arrangements.

Enforcing contractual rights and obligations.
Complying with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
Financial account information obtained through Stripe Financial Connections will be used within the scope of the permissions granted and applicable contractual requirements.
Ballast does not currently intend to use Financial Connections transaction histories or account balances for underwriting or creditworthiness assessments.
4. Information Sharing
Ballast Ventures may disclose financial information when reasonably necessary to support legitimate business operations or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.
Recipients may include:
Payment Processors and Financial Institutions
Including Stripe and participating financial institutions, for account verification, payment authorization, transaction processing, and settlement.
Accounting and Administrative Providers
Including Intuit QuickBooks and other providers that support financial reporting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, and recordkeeping.
Professional Advisers
Including attorneys, accountants, auditors, consultants, and other professionals providing services to Ballast Ventures.
Technology and Operational Service Providers
Including providers of hosting, information security, document management, and other business technology services.
Legal, Regulatory, and Business Purposes
Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to legal process, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, protect legal rights, or facilitate permitted corporate transactions.
We do not sell personal banking information to third-party data brokers.
We do not currently share nonpublic personal financial information with unaffiliated third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
Any future information-sharing practices will be subject to applicable notice, consent, and opt-out requirements.
5. Protection of Financial Information
Ballast Ventures uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect sensitive information, consistent with applicable legal requirements and the nature of our operations.
These measures may include:
Use of established third-party payment infrastructure.
Restricted access to sensitive financial information.
Authentication and access controls.
Secure storage and transmission mechanisms.
Reliance on specialized providers for payment credential management.
Stripe handles bank account verification and payment processing through its financial services infrastructure.
Ballast Ventures does not ordinarily require creators to disclose their online banking passwords directly to Ballast.
Although reasonable safeguards are employed, no electronic system can guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access or other security incidents.
Ballast Ventures does not provide guarantees of uninterrupted security or system availability, except as required by applicable law.
6. Independent Co-Investment Agreements
Ballast Ventures enters into independently negotiated commercial agreements.
Each agreement may establish its own:
Investment amount.
Participation terms.
Financial obligations.
Settlement methodology.
Payment authorization requirements.
Connecting a financial account does not independently create an investment or repayment obligation.
Financial obligations arise under applicable executed agreements.
Where separately authorized, Ballast Ventures may initiate ACH Direct Debit payments for amounts owed under those agreements.
Authorizations may permit use of a previously verified bank account for subsequent independent agreements, provided the transactions fall within the authorization's scope and applicable law.
7. Retention of Financial Information
Ballast Ventures may retain financial and business information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
Perform contractual obligations.
Process and reconcile payments.
Maintain required accounting and tax records.
Support auditing and compliance activities.
Prevent or investigate fraud.
Resolve disputes.
Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Retention periods may vary according to the nature of the information and applicable requirements.
Information may be retained in archived records or backups when lawful and reasonably necessary.
8. Your Financial Privacy Rights
Individuals may have rights concerning their personal financial information under applicable federal or state law.
Depending on the circumstances, these rights may include:
Requesting information about our privacy practices.
Requesting correction of inaccurate information.
Requesting access to certain personal information.
Limiting certain disclosures where legally required.

Business information exchanged between Ballast Ventures and its commercial partners may also be protected by separately executed Non-Disclosure Agreements.
Such agreements govern the parties' contractual confidentiality obligations.
This Financial Information Privacy Notice does not supersede or modify those agreements.
10. Third-Party Financial Services
Ballast Ventures uses independent financial and technology providers to perform certain functions.
These providers may maintain separate privacy practices, security procedures, and contractual obligations.
